Apex is a pioneer in sustainable manufacturing. Its sustainability efforts are driven by digitization, ecological cognizance, productivity, innovation, and adaptability. Apex has a three-pronged mechanism for addressing sustainability: environmental friendliness, usage of recyclable materials, and mainstreaming corporate social responsibility efforts into its daily operations.
Our commitment to environmental friendliness is multi-faceted. We have one of the largest privately-owned water treatment plants in the country where it researches how to recycle wastewater. Our factories use environmentally friendly chemicals that adhere to ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) guidelines, to promote sustainable manufacturing.
We have prioritized conserving resources. We use singeing and sublimation in the manufacturing of our textiles to minimize dye wastage and chemical usage. To conserve energy and maximize efficiency, we made the switch to LED lights from CFL lights and from clutch motors to servo motors in all of our factories and offices. Additionally, our operations utilize waste heat from factory power generation and use it to power air-conditioning and cooling units. Our energy conservation initiatives extend to our dyeing houses as well, as a part of the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) PaCT program.
We are the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certified, which means that we voluntarily allow third-party assessment of our recycling efforts. We recycle the pre-consumer waste produced in our manufacturing processes into new fiber. We work with bamboo fiber, recycled polyester, recycled ocean plastic, nylon, viscose made from FSC certified wood pulp, and viscose made from pre-consumer recycled cotton in addition to using organic cotton in our manufacturing. Also, to integrate technological innovation into our sustainability initiatives and to promote recycling, we have collaboration with Reverse Resources to facilitate an online platform that allows a network of recycling spinners to access fabric scrap availability.
